| BLACK MAN & SON |
![]() |
| Black men are portrayed as shallow and frivolous, devoted to sex and fun. That, indeed, applied to many, but far from everyone. Where the world saw dirt, we saw new soil in which to plant our past; to sew the seed of a new Black man, and bury our chains at last. So look to the future, beyond the horizon, if, indeed, you dare; hear the silent footsteps in the mist, a the new Black man is there. His eyes reflect the cold injustice his heart has had to bear; His soul dragged through the pits of Hell, a legacy all black men now share. He's no longer chanting ‘I’m Black and I’m proud’ or ‘We shall overcome’; Without words this time, but look in the eyes, of this Black man and his son. Eric L. Wattree |
